We'd like to share our collection of Type 1 (aka Juvenile) Diabetes artifacts and documents with anyone who is interested.
Type 1 Diabetes became a permanent part of our family in March 2012. We started collecting these items as a way to understand this condition. Please feel free to look around and share your thoughts.
My father was diagnosed in his early 20's and my sister was diagnosed in her early teens.
Today's diabetics can't begin to understand how luck they are as compared to my sister who was diagnosed around 1960.
But then my sister had a much easier time than my father.
Back when I was a kid my mother would mix an assortment of chemicals and use the stove top to heat a test tube for several minutes before coming up with a urine glucose.
So, yes, I find this fascinating. But, then I've always been a real geek in addition to being a T1 diabetic.
